RP: Late evening investigations
There were few things that could capture Near's attention as thoroughly as a set of toys. Legos, building blocks, and cards were among his favorites; the brilliant young investigator could spend hours building himself extravagant forts out of countless decks of cards, only to knock it all down when he tired of the design.

Tonight, he was doing much the same thing... only his heart and mind weren't in it.

So many ideas and concerns swirled around in the investigator's mind, often causing him to pause in the middle of his delicate building. Cards were tricky to set in the right order at the correct angle, and as a consequence, he'd been working on the same tower for his fort for well over an hour with little progress to show for it, thanks to losing himself in thought so often.

At least it was quiet for now; he'd recently wrapped up an investigation, and turned down the offer of one that had struck him as boring. He had the entire evening to himself to work on this newest fort.

Heaving a quiet sigh at that thought, Near reached for another card, glancing over the rest of his fort to determine that he wasn't about to inadvertently knock anything over that would ruin the past few hours' worth of work. Satisfied that everything appeared to be in order, he moved to delicately rest the new card in place.

Yes, it definitely seemed like it was going to be a night like any other, spent in quiet, contemplative solitude...
